Ahora, cada Super Bowl ha contado con un espectáculo musical celebrado en el descanso del partido (halftime show) desde su primera edición. Aunque en un principio estaba protagonizado por las bandas musicales de las universidades estadounidenses, la popularidad del evento hizo que los cantantes y grupos más populares del momento ganaran protagonismo. A diferencia de otros intermedios con menor duración, la NFL autoriza que el descanso del Super Bowl dure 30 minutos para que puedan realizarse las actuaciones, y su presupuesto es muy superior al de cualquier actuación realizada en otras circunstancias, y como se celebro recientemente e decidido mostrarles UNA lista de todos los shows de medio.
