Avril Ramona Lavigne (n. 27 de septiembre de 1984) es una cantante canadiense de rock de influencias, pop-punk, compositora, actriz y diseñadora de una línea de ropa. Avril irrumpió en las listas musicales con 17 años en el año 2002 con su primer y exitoso álbum Let Go, el cual le otorgó 8 nominaciones al Grammy y ha vendido hasta la fecha 19 millones de copias mundialmente y más de 7 millones en los Estados Unidos. Los sencillos "Complicated" y "Girlfriend" fueron unas de las 100 canciones más exitosas de la década de acuerdo a Billboard. Su segundo álbum, Under My Skin, fue el primero en alcanzar el puesto #1 del Billboard 200. El álbum vendió 10 millones de copias. Con The Best Damn Thing, su tercer álbum, alcanzó las primeras posiciones alrededor de todo el globo, dándole a Lavigne el reconocimiento de la artista femenina con más ventas en ese año. A pesar de esto, el álbum fue su menos vendido, con 8 millones de copias. Avril ha tenido 5 sencillos número uno mundialmente, incluyendo “Complicated”, “Sk8er Boi”, “I'm With You”, “My Happy Ending” y “Girlfriend”. Éste último fue el primer sencillo que alcanzó el puesto #1 del Billboard Hot 100 de Estados Unidos y además, fue la canción más descargada en el mundo en el 2007, y uno de los sencillos más exitosos de la historia. Actualmente Lavigne se encuentra finalizando su cuarto álbum, el cual se espera sea lanzado el 8 de marzo del 2011. Estrenó en marzo del 2010, el sencillo Alice, para la banda sonora de la película Alicia en el país de las maravillas. Hasta la fecha, Lavigne ha vendido más de 35 millones de discos,7 lo que la convierte en una de las cantantes más exitosas de la última década a nivel mundial.
Avril hizo su primer papel televisivo en Sabrina, la bruja adolescente, como ella misma. Tras esa pequeña aparición, Avril hizo su gran debut en la gran pantalla haciendo doblaje en la película "Vecinos Invasores (Over The Hedge)" en el año 2006 y haciendo su debut durante Fast Food Nation. En 2009 se lanzó como empresaria con su línea de ropa llamada "Abbey Dawn" y su primer perfume "Black Star", seguido por su segunda fragancia "Forbidden Rose", en 2010.
