Adult Eastern Gray Squirrels can be up to twenty inches long already including their
tail. Their colors may vary from light silver gray to almost pure white, in rare cases
this type of squirrels are black, their bodies are all the same color except for the

interesting fact about Eastern Gray Squirrels is that unlike others they do not
hibernate.
Their predators are humans, hawks, skunks, raccoons, feral and domestic cats, snakes,
owls and dogs. On occasions they might lose their tail as an effect of escaping from
them. Squirrels have good sense of vision, smell, hearing , and they have excellent
balance. Also they are incredible swimmers. Its tale its very useful and has many
functions such as for balance, shade from sun, as an umbrella, a blanket, and as a rudder
when swimming. When a squirrel is nearly bald its because its is suffering from an
illness or from miss care. The communication of the eastern gray squirrels includes
vocalizations and posturing.
One of the differences that humans and squirrels have is that this
squirrels breed up to twice a year. The gestation period for them is about forty-four
days. The newborns leave the nest after ten days of being born. They are born naked (no
fur) and with their eyes closed. Squirrels partner up in the winter once mated its when
they both build the nest Eastern Gray Squirrels may begin reproducing at twenty-two weeks
old, but usually they start when they are one year old. The life expectancy of this
creatures is about twelve years in the wild ,and twenty in captivity. After six years
they are considered old.
For food they seek for tree bark, fungi found at the forest, seeds,
walnuts, acorns, and other nuts, also they look out for insects, frogs, small rodents and
other squirrels ,and baby birds. Sometimes they eat bones.
This animals avoid the heat of the day instead they go out more at night
and early mornings. Eastern Gray Squirrels can be found at Eastern U.S. adjacent Southern
