Nacido en Bern, Suiza, Sandro del Prete comenzó su carrera en 1981. Tras estudiar arte en Italia, Prete volvió a Suiza para continuar con sus experimentos sobre la percepción humana y las ilusiones.
Imprime a sus dibujos un sentido único del simbolismo y la alegoría y explora el mundo de las estructuras imposibles y las imágenes ambiguas a lo largo de su extensa obra. Sus obras destacan por su estética pero también por su exactitud a la hora de presentar mundos simultáneos.
