The Stranger(Norman Whitney) Characteres: -Dave Slatin -Anna -Peter -Greta Gordon -Mike Bailey -Arthur Riseman About: Woodend was a small, quiet village with no shops, no visitors. Then a stranger came and opened the corner shop. Thet summer, strange visitors came to Woodend. And customers came secretly to Dave Slatin's shop. Theywanted help and Dave Slatin helped them. At first, Anna thought Dave was very exciting and hand some. But soon she became very frightened... Chapter 1: A stranger in Woodend On Saturdy 31 st October 1964 a man arrived to a litle village called Woodend. The man asked for a hotel and a woman said that there aren't a hotel, but Mr Harrison could gave him a house to pass the night. The man didn't went to the church. That was stranger because the church was the most beatiful place to visit in Woodend. A few months later the stranger went to the litle village and said that he wanted to bought a house. When he bought the house he put a sign tah said: "Corner Shop proprietor: Dave Slatin. Chapter 2: The village meeting The villagers could not belive it.Some people said:"the corner shop was a good idea" but another persons said:"the corner shop wasn't a good idea". Some minutes later all the people agree. The Corner Shop will sold all the things that people made. All the things are cheap and good. Chapter 3: The Corner Shop The Corner Shop was a sucess, so they need an assistant. Anna was the new assistant. Sometimes the friend of Anna, Peter, came to help to the Corner Shop. Before the Corner Shop all the people had to went to Lidney, because there isn't any shop in Woodend. Dave lived in a flat above the shop. The shop had a door with a sign wich said: "Special Orders Only: Keep Out”. The door was locked. Chapter 4: A beatiful customer. One day of April an unusual customer arrived, she was Greta Gordon, she was wearing expensive clothes and rings, she went to the special orden room. When she went out she was crying and she wasn´t wearing rings. Dave said Anna that she musn´t spoke about Greta Gordon´s visit. Chapter 5: A page in 'Film News' Greta Gordon will be in a film. Peter ask Anna that she want to marry him, she said 'Yes' On saturdays Peter always play cricket or football Chapter 6: A quick kiss. Dave asked Anna to go out to the cinema on saturday, she said 'Yes' because Peter will be playing football that day. When Anna and Dave were in the car, he stoped it and they had a quick kiss. Chapter 7: Another Special Customer. A man arrived to the Corner Shop and he wanted to see Dave Slatin. They went to the Special Orders Room with a small case. Anna stayed in a corner of the shop. When the man went out of the room, Anna wanted to talk to him, but he didn’t want to speak. Chapter 8: The football match. All the people of Woodend went to Mr. Harts house because he had the biggest TV. The match was 2-2 and Mike Bailey scored the third goal. He broke Brian Thomas, the goalkeeper, neck. Anna recognise Mike Bailey as he was the special customer. Chapter 9: A secret weekend. One day, Dave invited Anna to London, Anna said that she will go with him if he answered a question. Anna asked Dave “Why do people come to you?” he answered that people came because Dave sold help. Chapter 10: A quarrel Anna enjoyed the weekend in London with Dave, when she came back Peter asked Anna about Dave. Peter was jeaulos. Anna must decided between Dave and Peter Chapter 11: Arthur Riseman The corner shop was not busy, but one day, a special customer come to the corner shop. He had got a briefcase with the letters A.R.I.C.S . He wanted to see Dave Slatin. Anna wanted to know the man but Peter came back to the shop. Arhtur and Dave came to the ‘Special Orders Room’. Dave said Anna that she can went to her home, but Anna did not came. When Arthur came out, he saw Anna and she goes to take his briefcase, but he takes his wrists and she can’t go. Next Arthur let go her. Chapter 12: Anna waits for news All the people who visited Dave became famous, Anna was waiting for news about Arthur Riseman. She said that she will go to Lidney, but she will go to Londo to visit Arthur Riseman. When she arrived to the train station she saw a sing with the letters “I.C.S.”, she think the Riseman`s briefcase, and she called that number. She talk with Arthur`s secretary, tall she that Riseman was flying to Switzerland. A private plane crashed near London. Chapter 13: The special orders room Anna listened in the radio that riseman was the new chairman ina company. Anna did not sleep that night. The next day Dave left the shop and Anna could entered to the special orders room. She saw a lot of boxes, money and toys, a doll with a broken arm , a broken plane and a magazine with torned footballers. Then she listened a voice. It was Dave. Chapter 14: The Special Customers Dave said Anna that he left the door opened for her, now she was frightened, but she tried not to show her fear. Anna said ‘why greta Gordon give you the diamons?’ Dave Slatin picked up the beautiful doll with the broken arm, he said ‘Do you remember Joanna Leigh?’ ‘Of course’ answered Anna. Dave said it¡s Joanna Leigh, Anna felt more now afraid now. Dave was a terrible man. Dasve picked up the broken aeroplane. ‘And what do you think this is?’ he asked. Anna was now too afraid to speak. Dave took Anna’s arm and she can’t move. Dave said that she must married with him and he give she every that she need. Anna had to give he sons. Anna scaped to her home. Chaptrer 15: 31st. October Anna felt terrible, Anna’s mother called a doctor, he arrived immediately. The doctor didn’t know what happends to Anna, suddenly Peter arrived. A few minutes later the people shout ‘Fire! Fire!’. The fire was in The Corner Shop, Dave was there. He was in flames, but he didn’t shout, he was laughing. Sudenly he desapeared, and Anna was dead.
