saludos taringueros, este es mi primer post y siento que sea para dar una mala noticia. uno de los mas grandes bajistas que ha dado el hard & heavy internacional se suicidó el 21 de julio de 2009. sirva esta pequeña biografia como sincero homenaje. En 1978, formó la banda RISING FORCE junto con el guitarrista Yngwie Malmsteen. Tres años más tarde Jacob se unió a FORCE, que más tarde cambió su nombre a EUROPE, en sustitución de John Leven, quien asumió el lugar de Jacob en RISING FORCE. Durante su estadía en FORCE, Jacob escribió la canción "Black Journey for My Soul", junto con el vocalista Joey Tempest. La canción se incluyó en el segundo álbum de EUROPE, "Wings of Tomorrow", retitulado "Scream of Anger". Después de pasar tres meses en la banda, Jacob intercambia de nuevo su puesto de bajista en RISING FORCE con John Leven, quien al parecer, terminó hasta los cojones del pesado de Malmsteen. En 1987 Jacob colavora en el álbum "total control", el primer disco en solitario publicado por el guitarrista John Norum. Jacob también co-escribió varias de las canciones incluidas en ese álbum. Dos años más tarde, formó la banda junto con el vocalista Jeff Scott Soto TALISMAN. A lo largo de los años la banda lanzó varios álbumes de estudio y en directo hasta 2007. En 1992 Marcel colavora en una canción con LION´S SHARE, "Nothing's Free", que fue incluido en una compilación belga. En 1993 fue músico invitado de Thomas Vikström en su álbum en solitario "If I Could Fly". En 1994 tocó en el disco de THE JOHANSSON BROTHERS de titulo homonimo. Otro grupo que fue formado por Marcel Jacob fue HUMAN CLAY, junto con Jeff Scott Soto. En 1996, Marcel colavora en el disco de versiones de "pesadito" J. Malmsteen, "Inspiration". En 2005, Jacob fue uno de los tres nuevos miembros a unirse a la sueco/alemana banda de rock duro LAST AUTUMN´S DREAM, en su segundo álbum de estudio, junto con el batería Jamie Borger y tecladillero Thomas Lassar. Ellos fueron contratados para sustituir a los miembros originales John Leven, Ian Haugland y Mic Michaeli, respectivamente, que había dejado la banda para la reunión de EUROPE. con esta banda graba otros cinco álbumes de estudio, la última de ellas "Dreamcatcher", que se editó el 26 de enero de 2009. Sin duda su obra postuma. Marcel Jacob fue hallado muerto en su casa en Kristineberg, Estocolmo el 21 de julio de 2009 a los 45 años de edad. El vocalista Jeff Scott Soto, emitió la siguiente declaración en su pagina web: It is with deep regret & remorse I, along with fellow members of Talisman, am announcing our brother, long time colleague & overall greatest musician we've ever played with, Marcel Jacob, is no longer with us as of today, Tue July 21, 2009. Marcel took his own life after many years of personal & health issues he was battling. We were mere days from starting what would have been our 8th Talisman studio album together, celebrating the 20 year anniversary of the band. I spoke with him just yesterday about finalizing the details that would get us started only to get the news this afternoon that my friend merely gave up on it all. I want him to be remembered as everything I have already mentioned above but more so, he helped influence so many musicians & songwriters. He was a quiet, gentle soul with a very intense passion for his craft. I have been associated with him since 1984 but it was when we started Talisman is when he truly became a brother, one of my dearest friends. It is far too early to say anything now but I plan to organize a memorial for his legacy, although not known by the masses, the ones who do see him as the genius I know he was. R.I.P. my friend, you will be sorely missed, you will be in my heart forever & I'll see you on the other side...I hope now you will get your dream & jam with Phil Lynott!!
